It may sound counter intuitive for the online giant (Amazon) to buy a retailer (Whole Foods) that has been losing market share, however, Amazon has been opening physical book stores and small quick serve Amazon-Go stores with limited success. Whole Foods gives Amazon what it really wants, prime real estate across the US & Canada.
