Alice and her husband along with thousands of passengers and crew are stuck at the port of Yokohama for the last five days, authorities are not allowing them to disembark, and the captain has ordered everyone to remain in their cabins. The highly contagious Corona Virus has so far infected 62 passengers, those who are affected have been transferred to nearby hospitals and the remaining passengers and crew are expected to remain quarantined for the next 14 days.
Now think about 11 million people in a bustling city and many neighboring smaller cities that are completely cutoff from the rest of China, in Beijing, birthdays and wedding celebrations are now banned, strict quarantine rules are in place, every two days, only one member of a family is allowed to leave their apartment for few hours to buy groceries.
Wuhan a city of 11 million is in a complete lock-down, you can’t imagine a city of that size anywhere else could be quarantined, only the communists can do such a thing, a total shut-down, and we all should be happy that they have taken this unprecedented step (I never thought I would say, thank you to a communist) had they not, believe me, the Spanish Flu would look like a common cold (50 million people died in the Spanish Flu outbreak).

Ms. Lin, a Wuhan resident, told a BBC reporter not to ‘Trust’ the government numbers, sound familiar? She said those dying at home are being cremated quickly and are not counted, and those who are dying in hospitals before a proper diagnosis are also not being counted. There are reports of shortage of hospital beds and many government buildings have been converted into temporary hospital wards, and to discourage people from leaving, elevators in high rise residential buildings are turned-off.
The world economy is highly integrated and China is the highway that connects the world, all the major global manufactures have announced disruptions to their supply chain, crucial parts are not being shipped out and as result Toyota, Hyundai and many Japanese and Korean factories are closed.
